Map Market Hotter Than Ever

Yahoo and Microsoft have announced their betas for their mapping tools. It seems like Yahoo is using Flash while Microsoft is using Ajax and ActiveX. Yahoo's version is less buggy than Microsoft's, but Microsoft's has some very cool features - like the 3D models of cities (bird's eye view). I haven't used Google Earth for a while, but this might be the same functionality, except that it works nicely in the browser.

Finally it seems like Microsoft is waking up and taking Google on its own turf. Expect fireworks, once Microsoft comes out with v2.0 of its software.

If the Microsoft maps live up to their promise, they could even drive traffic to its search engine.
