Champions Trophy in A'bad

Ahmedabad is hosting 5 matches of the Champions Trophy this time round. Teams have been parked for 8 days in a row (S. Africa, for example) in our lovely hometown. Just in the last week, it's been called "least tourist-friendly" and "boring". Players and tourists have been complaining about the fact that's totally 'driy'. And this is just on Cricinfo.com. Here's a link to Chris Gayle's diary.

People seem to like the stadium now, though. The silver lining in all this is that Ahmedabad got all these matches along with Mohali, Jaipur and Mumbai - all 'A' list tourist spots in the country.

Hopefully Gujju hospitality will still win these guys over...

What would India have been, had the British not invaded?

I often wonder what the fate of India would have been without a British invasion in the 17th century.

From the Afghanistan experience, it seems like we wouldn't be any better off even without the British. In Afghanistan, according to this story, you have the choice between the Westerners (with their messy ways) and the barbaric Taliban.
